Lancer Parent Organization Executive Board Meeting

November 14, 2022

Call to Order: 7:00 p.m.

Location: Room 180

Minutes:

Principal’s Report, Dr. Calcaterra:

·         Winter formal will be February 4, 2023.

·         Community Volleyball Tournament will be April 14, 2023.

·         Special Olympics will be May 12, 2023.

·         Food drive is ongoing, including the upcoming Circle of Concern Jazz Concert next Tuesday.

·         Lafayette students are active! Eighty-eight percent of students participate in a Lafayette activity. Others may be busy with activities outside of the school as well.

·         Auditions for the February musical just finished.

·         Need custodial help and have been advertising jobs to students. LHS used to have twelve custodians in the evening, now there are only two. Very easy job (no bathrooms) – set your own hours but recommend 3:30-6:30.

President, Sara Robeson:

●       Opening remarks

●       Motion to approve September minutes. Giovanna moved and Mary seconded.

●       We will approve October minutes via email.

●       Canned food drive, sponsored by STUCO runs through mid-November, benefiting Circle of Concern.

●       Lancers Landing is up and running with new items. Will need volunteers to work in during the Open House in January.

●       Please send all newsletter items to Aleta and cc: Sara.

●       Working to correct donations/tax information with the correct LPO name. 2018 taxes were filed, but for some reason were not uploaded to the website. This will be finalized soon.

 

2nd Vice President, Aleta Harris:

 ●       Communications from Class Directors and others should be sent to both lancerparentorg@gmail.com and lancerparentorgpresident@gmail.com.

 

Lancer Legacy, Amy Buckley:

·         We are at $8025 from 103 donors. Goal: $10,000.

·         Donors are covering most of the fee, but LPO has covered $62 in fees from Square.

·         Continue to promote in newsletters and on social media.

·         Parent Pay and Square can also be used

·         For corporate matching donations, checks are welcome

 

Social Media, Michelle McSpadden:

·         Send text with pictures!

 

Volunteers, Lizanne Campbell:

·         Volunteers for the store are doing well at this point.

·         Some volunteers still cancel at the last minute or don’t show up. Perhaps recommend sending sub list a mass text if someone cannot work their shift.

Buzz Book/Website, Martha Czymmek:

·         Membership Toolkit updates have been time consuming, because of some student data questions (FERPA or incorrect grade).

·         Peachjar is going away as of January. This functionality is moving to ParentSquare.

 

Seniors:

·         45 Senior Celebration tickets sold thus far.

·         Memory Maker tickets sold thus far:

o   40 Father/Daughter

o   30 Father/Son

o   54 Mother/Daughter

o   34 Mother/Son

·         Feb 1 is the next price increase

·         No refunds

·         Contract has been signed with Old Hickory Golf Club

·         Will be reaching to Juniors for help with these events

 

Juniors:

·         Trivia night is coming along, with the second meeting on Wednesday.

·         We now have a silent auction chair.

Sophomores:

·         Held our first meeting and have one chair person, with several other volunteers.

·         Looking at holding the Fun Run to kick off Senior Week at the end of April.

Freshmen:

·         Winter Carnival chair has stepped up.

·         Meeting this week.
