Lancer Parent Organization Executive Board Meeting

Minutes:

Principal’s Report, Dr. Calcaterra:

·         Administrative team introductions:

o   Fields: Class of 2026

o   Lewis: Class of 2025

o   Mehrotra: Class of 2024

o   Jones: Class of 2023

o   Franklin: Assistant Principal

o   Sumner: Activities

·         Funds from the “Make It Count” foundation are purchasing a new sound system for the gym

President, Sara Robeson:

●       Opening remarks and thanks to administrative team

●       Standing rules and bylaws will be voted on for approval at September meeting.

o   Changes/Reminders:

▪         Financial: From $500 to $750 expenditure before changing budget

▪         LPO members switch for new school year at the June meeting

▪         Any expenditure over $100 must be signed by committee chair or class director

▪         $500+ checks must be co-signed

●       Reminder of Lancer Legacy – the sole all-LPO direct donation fundraiser

●       Class Fundraisers:

o   Should target $23,000 to start senior year

o   General target for fundraisers each year:

▪         9^th: $5000

▪         10^th: $3000

▪         11^th: $5000

o   Plus LPO gifts

o   Taste of West County – if held, could be scheduled for last Monday in February

●       Upcoming dates:

o   President’s Forum: September 28, 5:30, Marquette High School – open to all board members

o   Homecoming: Parade & Football Game, September 30; Dance, October 1

o   Upcoming LPO Board Meetings: September 12

 

Lancers Landing, Shalini Arya:

·         Both the school store and online store are ramping up

·         Can buy online and pickup in store

·         Freshman Orientation will be the first night spirit wear is available

 

2^nd Vice President, Aleta Harris:

 ●       President email sent at the beginning of the month

●       Class director emails sent in the middle of the month

●       Will need some help with senior emails

●       Communications from Class Directors and others should be sent to both lancerparentorg@gmail.com and lancerparentorgpresident@gmail.com.

Lancer Legacy, Amy Buckley:

·         Goal: $10,000

·         Membership Toolkit link is coming

·         Parent Pay and Square can also be used

·         For corporate matching donations, checks are welcome

·         Minimum $25 donation gets BuzzBook access

·         Available until October

Parent Pay/Square, Deanna Vardeman:

·         Need some time for prep

Hospitality, Nikki Gramlich:

·         Will have Lancers Landing gift cards for teachers and staff (approx. 200) – enough for drink and snack – cards are being designed

·         Parent/teacher conferences: October 19 and 27 – LPO will handle dinner on the 19^th, Dr. Calcaterra will handle dinner on the 27^th

·         Looking at $4500 budget for teacher appreciation (146 teachers)

·         Would like to also do something for nurse appreciation, custodian appreciation, etc. – may need a committee to help with this

Social Media, Michelle McSpadden:

·         Send ideas – text is preferred!

Seniors:

·         Maybe chalk decorate parking spots – look at HOCO, Powderpuff, or in spring during Senior Week (no paint – only chalk)

·         T-shirts are on sale now

Juniors:

·         Will hold meeting before Open House on August 31 to look for volunteers and get ideas for fundraiser

Sophomores:

·         Looking at Fun Run that is scheduled for September 25

·         Concerned about no volunteers thus far

·         Sara can help with Fleet Fleet information

·         Deanna can help with Square during race registration
