Lancer Parent Organization Executive Board Meeting

Minutes:
August Minutes Approval- Motion made for approval of August Minutes (Carren
Rogan), Seconded (Lizanne Campbell)- minutes approved unanimously
Principal’s Report, Dr. Calcaterra:
● The year is off to a great start o Homecoming is gearing up o New systems are in place for students that are going well
● Teacher Conferences - Will be held 2 dates - October 19th- virtual conferences
(LPO dinner will be provided this date) and October 26- in person conferences
● Students are excited and are driving activities within LHS o Student Council had its first meeting with a huge turnout during AcLab o Best Buddies was looking for a sponsor (Dr Calcaterra answered the call) and has incredible ideas for continued support and expansion of their mission
o There will be a Green Out football game supporting mental health awareness this week- students requested awareness bracelets
● 9/28 - National Speaker will be presenting to Freshman & Sophomores on Drug and Alcohol Awareness
President, Sara Robeson:
● Presidents Forum Dates invitation
● PTO Closet - Many centerpiece options, signage, and other decorations. If you want to use it, please either remove it from the closet or mark what you want with your event. If it is marked as another committee, please reach out to that committee chair prior to using.
● New Meeting Agenda Format
● Board Members are LPO /LHS Ambassadors o Publicize our Positives- What are LHS, volunteers or students doing? Send to Michelle Mc Spadden Have questions or concerns, please don’t add to the frenzy. Ask Sara, class principals or Dr. Calcaterra
● Family/ Parent Involvement Week in Education - Donate, Be Present, Volunteer, Support - We’ll be running a daily campaign this week to encourage families to be involved and thank them for present involvement. If you have ideas for pics let me know
● Old Business - Adoption of the Bylaws and Standing Rules. Motion was made to adopt the Bylaws and Standing Rules proposed at the August LPO Meeting. Motion was seconded and unanimously approved
Treasurer, Carren Rogan: (see Treasurer’s Report)
● Budget Amendment Proposed by Carren Rogan o Amend Income for Lancer Landing to $70,000 from $60,900 and Misc
Income from $150 to $160 o Amend Expenses - Lower communication ($750 to $500) and Misc expenses (from $1250 to $1000), Increase President Forum dues ($65 to $75), add Teacher of Year scholarship ($500), increase Lancer Landing expenses ($40,000 to $41,100), increase Teacher Grants ($2000 to $10,000)
● Amendment motion seconded and passed
● Budget report 7/1/22- 8/31/22 presented
Lancer Legacy, Amy Buckley:
● Goal: $10,000
● Total donation amount as of 9/11/22: $5,950 (this includes the $25 donation made in June by an incoming freshman family) (Compared to 2021 campaign $5,400) Number of donations= 77 (76), Donations via MTK = 55 (56), Donations via Square = 13 (8), Donations via Parent Pay Online 8 (14), Donations via Check = 1 (0)
● Donations by amount= $25=28 donors=$700, $50=12 donors=$600, $75=4 donors=$300, $100=21 donors=$2100, $150=3 donors=$450, $200=9 donors=$1800
● Discussed why we had a blackout period for classes as well as tying direct class fundraisers for freshman, sophomores and juniors to the class fundraising event to help minimize confusion. Board members present confirmed that we wanted
to continue the blackout through the October LPO meeting pending meeting the fundraising goal for Legacy .
Hospitality, Nikki Gramlich:
● Distributed $3 vouchers and teachers have been using them!
● Donuts were given on August 26 to teachers to celebrate the end of the first week of school. They were a hit.
● Plan to set up candy bowls in all of the lounges 9/13 and will send pictures once this is completed.
Volunteers, Lizanne Campbell:
● Discussed challenges and current limitations of SignUp Genius and brought up need for premium service from SignUp Genius. Fee for premium service is $107/annual.
● Answered questions regarding what features are needed that premium provides
● Agreed that Volunteers and Lancer Landing would benefit from premium service due to the ability to add additional administrators and other features
● Will discuss the fee with LL chairs to see if they are willing to take on the expense as a part of their budget
Seniors:
● Having a senior parent meeting concurrently- highly attended
Juniors, Tracy Montgomery:
● In person meeting went well. Have a tentative volunteer to lead Trivia, will be meeting to discuss specifics
Sophomores:
● No Report
Freshman, Shelly Monschein:
● Tailgate is on- Volunteer positions filled, Freshman need to sign up by Wed. Having chips & Pizza
Upcoming dates: o President’s Forum: September 28, 5:30, Marquette High School – open to all board members
o Homecoming: Parade & Football Game, September 30; Dance, October 1
Next LPO Meeting: October 10, 7:00, LHS
