Lancer Parent Organization Executive Board Meeting

March 13, 2023

Call to Order: 7:00 p.m.

Location: Room 180

Minutes:

Principal’s Report, Dr. Calcaterra:

President, Sara Robeson:

●       Opening remarks

●       April 10 will be the LPO budget meeting

●       Need to discuss adding by-laws and standing rules for bereavement gifts

●       By-laws and standing rules were just finished last year, but we will take another look

●       Grant request forms will go out this week and are due back April. LPO will grant requests at the May meeting.

 

2nd Vice President, Aleta Harris:

 ●       Senior class communications will be very busy soon

●       Communications from Class Directors and others should be sent to both lancerparentorg@gmail.com and lancerparentorgpresident@gmail.com.

 

Treasurer, Mark Masterson:

·         Coming into budget season

·         Looking at $20,000 over income budget (based on pattern of store sales, with lower expenses

·         What is a “wish list item” vs “grant?” A wish list is extra money not earmarked already. We may hold some dollars for such items. Grants are for specific requests.

Spirit Wear, Megan Lawhorn:

·         New spiritwear is in!

·         Planning to push spiritwear to middle schools

 

Membership, Amy Buckley:

·         Push membership after sophomore class’s Fun Run?

 

Community Outreach, April Ladner:

·         Community volleyball tournament is April 14

·         There will be a concession stand and we need to publicize that food will be available

·         Money from concession stand can be used to buy gift cards for each team (instead of t-shirts). Plan on $100 per team.

·         Each team will wear their own spiritwear since t-shirts will not be made.

·         9 schools participate: 5 elementary, 3 middle school, and 1 high school

·         Winning teams gets first choice of team gift card.

·          

Hospitality, Nikki Gramlich:

·         Lunch for Wednesday’s parent/teacher conferences is Crazy Bowls & Wraps

·         Planning an all-school event later

 

Volunteers, Lizanne Campbell:

·         School store volunteers are still needed!

 

Seniors:

·         All four Memory Maker events happened over the weekend.

·         Dr. Jones was at all four events

·         Exceed ticket sales by $2000, so will apply that amount to the Senior Celebration

·         Senior Celebration - will have 16-man fusbal, instead of bucking bull

·         Senior Week: April 24 – April 28

o   Donuts

o   Future Fit

o   Chick-fil-a

Juniors:

·         Trivia Night was a huge success

·         We earned just under $13,000

·         Trying to think of ideas for Dr. Mehrotra’s retirement

 

Sophomores:

·         Fun Run is April 30, 2023 at 8:30 a.m.

·         $30 registration fee includes bib & tshirt

·         Under 12 can register for $10 (no shirt)

·         Shirt only is $20

·         Artwork coming soon

·         Register by April 19 to guarantee a shirt

·         Volunteers are continuing to sign

 

Freshmen:

·         Just waiting on custodial bill from Winter Carnival
