Scholarships

Two or three scholarships will be awarded to students of the Rockwood School District. One or two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to students who intend to earn a degree in education. In addition, the $1,500 Jan McVicar Scholarship rewards a student who has also participated in numerous service opportunities. To be eligible for an ADK Scholarship, the applicant must be a candidate for graduation during the current school term or a college student majoring in education. Student applicants must be planning to attend an institute of higher learning and study for a future in the field of education or an education-related profession. The major factors considered will be character, service and volunteer involvement, academic achievement, and commitment to excellence.

The Ameren All In Scholarship is a $10,000 renewable, annual grant for low-income students living in the service areas of Ameren Missouri or Ameren Illinois who are enrolled at any grade level in a nonprofit, 2- or 4-year accredited college or university in Missouri or Illinois. Grants are renewable for up to five years or ten semesters, and preference will be given to scholars pursuing education in the STEM fields or in the Joint Engineering Program offered by the University of Missouri – St. Louis and Washington University in St. Louis. The Andrew Vidal Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 to honor Andrew and his love for learning. St. Louis area graduating high school seniors who exemplify the characteristics of service and academic excellence and who demonstrate unmet financial need at the postsecondary school they attend are welcome to apply for this $1,000, renewable scholarship. The BJC Scholars Fund is intended to serve youth in pursuit of higher education from communities and surrounding areas in which BJC hospitals are located. Applicants must be current high school seniors planning to enroll in accredited, nonprofit four-year, in-state public institutions or any out-of-state school that allows in-state tuition reciprocity. Applicants may pursue a bachelor’s degree in any field or subject, except ministry and divinity degrees.  Awarded students will receive a scholarship of up to $12,000 per academic year, which is renewable through graduation or up to ten semesters, provided the student continues to meet eligibility and selection criteria. The Deaconess Foundation Nursing Scholarship will provide grants of up to $15,000 to students pursuing a nursing degree. These grants are renewable through completion of a bachelor’s degree or up to ten semesters. The Dennis G. Glore Memorial Scholarship Fund for Hospitality students was established by the St. Louis Community Foundation by the Greater St. Louis Foodservice Industry Council (GSLFIC) in 1996 to honor the memory of Dennis G. Glore, an independent food service designer, and consultant, for the purpose of providing scholarships to academically promising students attending an approved Hospitality Studies or Culinary Arts Program in the St. Louis area. This award is non-renewable; however, past recipients are encouraged to reapply. Six $2,000.00 scholarships (non-renewable) will be awarded to students who graduate in 2026 from high schools in MUSIC member districts. The funding of the scholarships is provided by proceeds from the MOASBO-MUSIC Annual Golf Tournament and corporate donations. Only one application from each district is to be submitted. In districts that have multiple high schools, an application from each high school may be submitted. The Elaine M. Diggs scholarship award of up to $1,000 is given by the Saint Louis Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to support the scholastic efforts of African-American female high school seniors planning to attend an accredited college or university. Scholarships are awarded for tuition, books, or living expenses. Multiple scholarships are available. Applicants must be residents of Missouri, under the age of 21, unmarried, and a descendant of a veteran with at least ninety days active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard, who received an Honorable Discharge for such service. A photocopy of the veteran's DD 214, discharge, or separation notice must accompany the scholarship application. Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship - Two awards of $1,000 each are given each year. One award is given to a boy who has attended The American Legion Boys State of Missouri or a full session of the Department's Cadet Patrol Academy. The second award is given to a girl who has attended The American Legion Auxiliary's Girls State program or a full session of the Department's Cadet Patrol Academy.

M.D. "Jack" Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Scholarship - Currently one $1,000 award is given each year, and may, by application, be extended for a second year. This award is available to a Missouri boy or girl training to be a Registered Nurse. The student must have graduated in the top forty percent of their high school class.

Joseph J. Frank Scholarship - Five awards of $750.00 are given annually to individuals who are descendants of a veteran. Awards will be given to one boy who has attended a full session of Missouri Boys State or Missouri Cadet Patrol and one girl who has attended a full session of Missouri Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol. Applicants must be unmarried, under the age of 21, a current resident of the state of Missouri, and must use the scholarship as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship - Two awards of $750.00 are given annually in memory of the first Missourian to serve as National Commander of The American Legion. Eligible are individuals who are currently members of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion, or a descendant of a member of any thereof. Applicants must be unmarried, a resident of Missouri, under the age of 21, and must use the scholarship as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship - Two $750.00 awards are given annually to a student planning on obtaining a degree in education, in honor of this past National Executive Committee member from Missouri. To be eligible, individuals must: (1) be a descendant (2) be a Missouri resident; (3) use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university; (4) must be planning to major in education, and 5) must be used the first fall semester following graduation from high school.

Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship - One $750.00 award will be awarded, annually. (1) Each school in the State of Missouri may nominate one student to be considered for the award. (2) The nominee will be selected on athletic, scholastic, and leadership abilities. The nominee should be deeply involved in community and school activities. (4) Must use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university. Missouri Detachment, Sons of the American Legion Scholarship - One award of $500 is given annually to a student who is a member of the Sons of the American Legion or of the Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion. The student must complete an essay on the topic “What being a member of the American Legion Family means to me.”

This $2,000 renewable scholarship is open to students majoring in a medical or healthcare field who are enrolled full-time as undergraduate students in an accredited, nonprofit, four-year college or university. Each recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at the college or university they attend in the United States. The FEEA Scholarship competition is for those attending or planning to attend an accredited institution of higher learning for an undergraduate or graduate degree. The Greater St Louis Mothers of Twins Club, Inc. is presenting seven (7) Continuing  Education Awards in memory of Mary Joan Wolf and Betty Radetic – two of our past members. The HardyStrong Foundation was created in honor of Justin Hardy, a 2018 graduate of St. Charles East High School (IL), student-athlete at Washington University in St. Louis (MO), and leader who lived with extraordinary grit, positivity, and determination.  The HardyStrong Memorial Scholarship will award $1,000 scholarships, renewable for up to four years, to one or more graduating seniors who have committed to compete in athletics at the collegiate level (not receiving a full athletic scholarship from an academic institution).  Scholarship recipients will demonstrate commitment to their academics, sport, and community, and will share Justin’s grit, determination, and all-around excellence in these areas.  Additional information is available on the application, which is available for download below.

The Horatio Alger Association, a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization, seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, and a good academic record.  Scholarships are given to deserving Juniors and Seniors each year and vary in award value up to $25,000. The James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship Foundation invites you to apply for scholarship awards for college tuition, fees, books, and supplies if you are a Missouri resident, graduating senior planning to enroll in a four-year college or university OR completing one or two full years at a Missouri community college and transferring to a four-year college. For over twelve years, Jay Walsh taught fifth grade at the CCL. He passed away suddenly during the 2012-2013 school year. Jay loved learning different languages, and he spoke and wrote six languages. At the CCL, he taught an in-depth morning unit on France and Kaleidoscope units on French, German, Greek, Latin, and Spanish. In memory of Jay Walsh, the CCL PTO is offering the Jay Walsh Scholarship to a Rockwood senior who has embraced foreign languages and intends to pursue a language, or languages, as part of their future endeavors.  The Jay Walsh Scholarship is a $1,000 non-renewable award.

The Jewish War Veterans, Heritage Post 644, of St. Louis, Missouri, is awarding two endowed $1,000 scholarships established by families in memory of members of the Jewish War Veterans and their families.  The awards may be applied to trade or undergraduate education.  The student may submit applications to both the Chuck Sandroff Scholarship and the Ted and Rachael Pevnick Family Scholarship.  Applicants must be current high school seniors, of the Jewish faith, and have a connection to the Greater St. Louis region.

Karen Giesler taught gifted education across various grades at the CCL for 24 years. She loved teaching about anything STEM-related and was an early adopter of teaching programming to second and third-grade students.  Her nationally recognized unit, "LASERS," was a morning unit staple for many years, and she taught too many STEM-related Kaleidoscopes to count.  It is hard to comprehend the number of student lives Karen impacted with her passion for STEM.  In memory of Karen Giesler, the CCL PTO is offering the Karen Giesler STEM Scholarship to a Rockwood senior who has intentions of pursuing a degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math).

This scholarship is available to children of workers who were seriously injured or died in a work-related accident covered and compensated by workers' compensation.  A serious injury is one that led to a paid settlement or judicial award and is verified with information from the Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation.  Scholarship awards are contingent on the availability of funds. The Larry Carp Memorial Scholarship will award one $5,000 scholarship, renewable for three additional undergraduate years, to a St. Louis graduating senior who is either an immigrant or a child of an immigrant to the United States, who will pursue a degree in a STEM field of study.  The recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at a nonprofit, accredited college or university in the United States.  Preference may be given to applicants who have participated in a music program.  Please visit https://stlouisgraduates.academicworks.com/opportunities/10217 for additional information.

This is a $500 nonrenewable grant designed to encourage high school students to take and score well on Advanced Placement tests in mathematics and science.  Eligible applicants will have achieved two grades of three or higher on AP exams in the fields of math and/or science while attending a Missouri public high school.  Qualifying AP exams in the fields of math or science include Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics B, Physics C, and Statistics.  Eligible applicants must also receive an award under the Access Missouri Student Financial Assistance Program or the A+ Scholarship Program in the academic year in which the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant is awarded.  Students who are eligible for the Access Missouri or A+ Scholarship programs but have a calculated award amount of zero are eligible for the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant.  Please visit My Scholarship Central for additional information. ​

Missouri Courage Scholarship (MCS) and its partner organizations award scholarships to graduating seniors from Missouri high schools pursuing higher education. Applications will be comprehensively evaluated on a variety of metrics, including academic achievement, school involvement, community engagement, diversity, demonstrations of courage, and commitment to enhancing the lives of LGBTQ individuals and working toward social justice.  Awards range from $500-$2000. Four $500 scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing appropriate certification in fields related to and supportive of agriculture.  This includes, but is not limited to, Heavy Equipment Operations, Electronics, Welding, and Diesel and Farm Machinery Repair.  Applicants, their parent(s), or guardian must hold an active membership in the Missouri Farm Bureau.  Students pursuing a 4-year degree are not eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is given in recognition of overall high school record, community service activities, leadership, and golf experience. The value of the award alone or in combination with other aid shall not exceed the value of a full grant-in-aid. If you are already receiving a full collegiate scholarship, you are not eligible. The Naumovich Scholarship Fund annually awards $2,500 renewable scholarships to graduating high school seniors or current college students. Applicants must be Missouri residents and plan to enroll full-time at an accredited, nonprofit, trade/technical, two-year college, or four-year college or university in the United States. Applications will be evaluated based on essays, transcripts, extracurricular and community involvement, and financial need.  Among finalist candidates, preference will be given to students of Polish descent (student, parent, or grandparent born in Poland). The PAF Student Scholarship Program is administered by the St. Louis Former Players Chapter of the NFL Players Association. This Scholarship Program is designed for high school athletes who plan to attend a university, college, or two-year institution and have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership skills, and strong promise for career goals.  Students are not required to compete in collegiate athletics to receive this scholarship.  Applicants must have participated in a varsity-level sport for at least one year and have an overall high school GPA of 2.0 or better.  Students who have accepted a full athletic or academic scholarship award or grant are not eligible.  Please visit https://www.stlproplayers.org/paf for details. 

The Paul F. Young Memorial Scholarship Fund provides educational financial assistance to individuals who have set goals and are motivated to learn a skill set that aids them in improving their economic status. This $2,500, renewable scholarship is open to students pursuing a certificate or associate degree. Regions will award a total of four (4) Quarterly Contest Prizes in each Quarterly Contest, consisting of two (2) Quarterly Contest Prizes for the Written Essay Entry Group and two (2) Quarterly Contest Prizes for the Video Essay Entry Group. Each Quarterly Contest Prize consists of a check in the amount of $8,000 made out to winner’s designated accredited college. As one way of affirming their belief in the importance of continuing education, the Rockwood National Education Association is offering up to four scholarships worth $1,000 each. Scholarships are awarded in two ways: to the children of RNEA members regardless of their intended field of study, and/or to any senior in the Rockwood School District who intends to pursue a career in education. The Rotary Club of West St. Louis County is pleased to offer a one-time scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to graduating High School students entering College or Vocational institutions in the Fall of 2026. Only students from Lafayette and Marquette High Schools are eligible to apply, and the winner(s) must be prepared to introduce themselves and briefly present their education plans to the Rotary Club. Parents and/or school counselors are welcome to accompany them. Completed Applications must be turned in to Lafayette College and Career Office (located in room 121) on or before 2/27/26. The Royal Vagabonds Foundation, Inc. assists young African-American people in the pursuit of educational advancement. This renewable Triple A Ranch Scholarship, which awards up to $5,000, is open to students from the greater St. Louis region. These grants are available annually to children and spouses of Veterans, whose deaths or injuries were a result of combat action or were attributed to an illness that was contracted while serving in combat action, or who became 80% disabled as a result of injuries or accidents sustained in combat action since Sept. 11, 2001.  The children and spouses of Missouri resident combat veterans deployed for active duty service on or after September 11, 2001 may also be eligible if the veteran received a DD214 indicating a combat pay tax exclusion exemption, or pay for hazardous duty, imminent danger, or hostile fire.  The veteran must have been a Missouri resident when first entering the military service or at the time of death or injury.  There is no application deadline for initial applicants but since the total number of students that may receive a grant in any year is limited by statute to 25, applying early is encouraged. Wartime Veteran's Survivors Grant Program

The Women Legislators of Missouri Caucus is sponsoring $1,000 scholarships for young women across Missouri who are graduating in 2026 and have shown excellence in leadership and community service. Missouri Baptist University has expanded its partnership with several local Chick-fil-A locations to offer top merit scholarships for their employees who attend MBU’s main campus. Eligible students can receive up to $24,000 per year in a merit scholarship. To qualify, they must be employed at one of our partner Chick-fil-A locations, meet their owner/operator's requirements, and be admitted to MBU. Interested students should apply for a position at one of the listed Chick-fil-A locations and complete this short form: https://mobap.formstack.com/forms/cfainterest. While employment is not guaranteed, MBU will notify the owner/operator that the applicant is pursuing the scholarship. In addition to the MBU award, eligible Chick-fil-A employees can also apply for the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarship, which may be stacked with MBU’s $24,000 scholarship award. MBU does not guarantee that students will receive the Remarkable Futures award, but they can apply, and many do receive it. Even if applicants do not receive the Remarkable Futures award, they will still receive MBU’s top merit of $24,000 as long as they remain employed at a participating Chick-fil-A and meet eligibility requirements. Southeast Missouri State University and the Missouri National Guard worked together to develop a unique dynamic program that prepares young adults for leadership positions in the Missouri National Guard as well as preparation for management and leadership positions in the civilian workforce.  The program offers students a way to serve in the National Guard as future officers while going to college that will provide them with the opportunity to earn their degree and to become commissioned officers in the Missouri National Guard. In November of 2006, the University of Missouri announced the MOST Scholarship Program. 80 scholarships of $500 per year will be awarded annually – for qualifying students of families who have invested for college through Missouri’s 529 Savings Plan (MOST) and who attend one of the University of Missouri four campuses Columbia, UMKC, Missouri S&T, or UMSL).To be eligible, the student’s family would need to have participated in the MOST program on behalf of the student for a minimum of 5 years prior to the April 1 deadline for applications for scholarships for the current academic year. The American Association of State Troopers Foundation, Inc. accepts scholarship applications from the dependents of trooper members for assistance with their post-secondary education expenses. Dependents are defined as a child by natural birth, a child legally adopted, a stepchild, or a child raised as a member's own (claimed as a dependent on income tax).

For a student to be eligible, their AAST member parent must have been a member in good standing for two (2) consecutive years before the July 31 application deadline for the year the student is applying. Students can be eligible to apply each year for a total of four scholarships.

The Schwallie Family Scholarship supports students attending two- or four-year undergraduate colleges. The majority of Schwallie applicants are students attending four-year degree programs. Schwallie applicants attending two-year degree programs are often students who intend to transfer to a four-year program in the future.

The Lisa Higgins Hussman Scholarship supports students attending two-year universities, life skills or postsecondary programs, or vocational, technical, or trade schools.  Hussman applicants typically have greater daily support needs and plan to attend programs that assist in skill building, job readiness, and other transition-related skills.

The Synchrony Scholarship for Autistic Students of Color supports students attending any kind of postsecondary institution: four-year undergraduate colleges; two-year undergraduate colleges; life skills or postsecondary programs; or vocational, technical, or trade schools. This Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship includes money for almost all areas of school expenses including tuition, books, fees and uniforms, along with extra costs associated with being a full-time student. To apply, students must be a high school senior or graduate between the ages of 17-23, a U.S. Citizen, and have an ACT of 22, SAT of 1000 OR an ASVAB score of 74. Students must also achieve a 175 on the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test. Upon graduation, students who receive and accept the NROTC scholarship will be commissioned as second lieutenant in the USMC.
