Scholarships

The purpose of the College Bound Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to deserving African American high school seniors from the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Since Omicron Eta Omega Chapter’s chartering in 1984, community support of fundraising programs such as Little Miss Fashionetta,® Salute to Black Men, and the Black College Bus Tour, have enabled the chapter to award numerous scholarships and book stipends to students. The College Bound Scholarship is made available through Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated,® Omicron Eta Omega Chapter, and the Ivy Foundation of St. Louis.

Eligible Applicants must:

● Be an African American high school senior
● Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
● Attend a four-year college in the 2025 fall semester
● Be a permanent resident of St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St.Charles County, Jefferson, Franklin, Warren, or Lincoln counties in Missouri.

The Ameren All In Scholarship is a $10,000 renewable, annual grant for low-income students who live in the service areas of Ameren Missouri or Ameren Illinois and who are enrolled at any grade level in a nonprofit, 2- or 4-year accredited college or university in Missouri or Illinois. Grants are renewable for up to five years or ten semesters and preference will be given to scholars pursuing education in the STEM fields or in the Joint Engineering Program offered by the University of Missouri – St. Louis and Washington University in St. Louis. The Andrew Vidal Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 to honor Andrew and his love for learning. Better Business Bureau® Serving Eastern & Southwest Missouri & Southern Illinois Student of Ethics Award Program recognizes high school students who personify high ethics demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity, academic accomplishments, letters of reference, and written essays. The BJC Scholars Fund is intended to serve youth in pursuit of higher education from communities and surrounding areas in which BJC hospitals are located. Applicants must be current high school seniors planning to enroll in accredited, nonprofit four-year, in-state public institutions (or any out-of-state school that allows in-state tuition reciprocity) or an HBCU in any US Geographic region. This $1,000 scholarship will provide financial support for one deserving high school senior annually to encourage students to pursue degrees, and ultimately careers, in agriculture. Applicants must be  Missouri residents and they, their parents, or guardians must hold a current Farm Bureau membership in Missouri and enroll in a 4-year Missouri college or university with a declared major in an agricultural field during the Fall 2025 semester. Each spring, area high school seniors from low-income families who live in the Circle of Concern service area or attend school in the service area may apply through a competitive process through myscholarshipcentral.org for tuition funds for the coming school year. The LHS Art Department is very excited to announce that they are offering an annual art scholarship due to a generous donation from the Class of 1969. Since graduating in 2002, four classmates have unexpectedly passed away.  The class of 2002 is proud to award four separate scholarships, in their honor, in the amount of $500 each, to four Lafayette seniors.  The scholarships are as follows:

This $1,000 scholarship, in memory of Margaret and Virgil Chott, will be awarded to a junior or senior in the Greater St. Louis area who intends to pursue a degree in a field that supports physical and mental health.  Additional information is available at https://www.compassionatememorialscholarship.org/.  

This $2,000 renewable scholarship is open to students who are majoring in a medical or healthcare field and are enrolled full-time as undergraduate students in an accredited, nonprofit, four-year college or university. Each recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at the college or university they attend in the United States. For over twelve years, Jay Walsh taught fifth grade at the CCL. He passed away suddenly during the 2012-2013 school year. Jay loved learning different languages, and he spoke and wrote six languages. At the CCL, he taught an in-depth morning unit on France and Kaleidoscope units on French, German, Greek, Latin, and Spanish. In memory of Jay Walsh, the CCL PTO is offering the Jay Walsh Scholarship to a Rockwood senior who has embraced foreign languages and intends to pursue a language, or languages, as part of their future endeavors.  The Jay Walsh Scholarship is a $1,000 non-renewable award.

This scholarship is available to children of workers who were seriously injured or died in a work-related accident covered and compensated by workers' compensation.  A serious injury is one that led to a paid settlement or judicial award and is verified with information from the Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation.  Scholarship awards are contingent on the availability of funds. The Larry Carp Memorial Scholarship will award one $5,000 scholarship, renewable for three additional undergraduate years, to a St. Louis graduating senior who is either an immigrant or a child of an immigrant to the United States, who will pursue a degree in a STEM field of study.  The recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at a nonprofit, accredited US college or university in the United States.  Preference may be given to applicants who have participated in a music program.  Please visit https://stlouisgraduates.academicworks.com/opportunities/9422 for additional information.

The Lawrence Strawbridge Foundation is proud to award one or more scholarships in memory of Lawrence Strawbridge. Lawrence was involved in many activities, including Football, Wrestling, Track, and ROTC at Lafayette.  Scholarships will range from $300 to $1,000 depending on available funds and the number of eligible applicants chosen. Applicants must be current Lafayette VICC (Voluntary Interdistrict Choice Corporation) seniors.

Metro West Firefighters Community Outreach is a non-profit organization funded by the employees of the Metro West Fire Protection District.  These funds allow them to support the community they serve beyond the emergency calls to which they respond on a daily basis.  As such, they are proud to offer an annual scholarship in the amount of $2,000 to a high school senior.  Eligible applicants must be residents of the Metro West Fire Protection District and must be accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning.  Additional information is available at https://www.metrowest-fire.org/community-outreach/.

This is a $500 nonrenewable grant designed to encourage high school students to take and score well on Advanced Placement tests in mathematics and science.  Eligible applicants will have achieved two grades of three or higher on AP exams in the fields of math and/or science while attending a Missouri public high school.  Qualifying AP exams in the fields of math or science include Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics B, Physics C, and Statistics.  Eligible applicants must also receive an award under the Access Missouri Student Financial Assistance Program or the A+ Scholarship Program in the academic year in which the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant is awarded.  Students who are eligible for the Access Missouri or A+ Scholarship programs but have a calculated award amount of zero are eligible for the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant.  Please visit My Scholarship Central for additional information. ​

For information regarding qualifying scores, visit the Missouri Department of Higher Education website at Bright Flight Program. There is no application form for this scholarship. Recipients will be awarded by a transfer of funds into their account at the Missouri school they attend next fall. 

Applicants must be residents of Missouri, under the age of 21, unmarried, and a descendant of a veteran with at least ninety days active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard, who received an Honorable Discharge for such service. A photocopy of the veteran's DD 214, discharge, or separation notice must accompany the scholarship application. Any additional requirements for each scholarship are on the reverse side of the application. Scholarships include:

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship - Two awards of $1,000 each are given each year. One award is given to a boy who has attended The American Legion Boys State of Missouri or a full session of the Department's Cadet Patrol Academy. The second award is given to a girl who has attended The American Legion Auxiliary's Girls State program or a full session of the Department's Cadet Patrol Academy.

M.D. "Jack" Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Scholarship - Currently one $1,000 award is given each year, and may, by application, be extended for a second year. This award is available to a Missouri boy or girl training to be a Registered Nurse. The student must have graduated in the top forty percent of their high school class.

Joseph J. Frank Scholarship - Five awards of $750.00 are given annually to individuals who are descendants of a veteran. Awards will be given to one boy who has attended a full session of Missouri Boys State or Missouri Cadet Patrol and one girl who has attended a full session of Missouri Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol. Applicants must be unmarried, under the age of 21, a current resident of the state of Missouri, and must use the scholarship as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship - Two awards of $750.00 are given annually in memory of the first Missourian to serve as National Commander of The American Legion. Eligible are individuals who are currently members of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion, or a descendant of a member of any thereof. Applicants must be unmarried, a resident of Missouri, under the age of 21, and must use the scholarship as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship - Two $750.00 awards are given annually to a student planning on obtaining a degree in education, in honor of this past National Executive Committee member from Missouri. To be eligible, individuals must: (1) be a descendant (2) be a Missouri resident; (3) use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university; (4) must be planning to major in education, and 5) must be used the first fall semester following graduation from high school.

Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship - One $750.00 award will be awarded, annually. (1) Each school in the State of Missouri may nominate one student to be considered for the award. (2) The nominee will be selected on athletic, scholastic, and leadership abilities. The nominee should be deeply involved in community and school activities. (4) Must use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university. Missouri Detachment, Sons of the American Legion Scholarship - One award of $500 is given annually to a student who is a member of the Sons of the American Legion or of the Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion. The student must complete an essay on the topic “What being a member of the American Legion Family means to me.”

Four $500 scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing appropriate certification in fields related to and supportive of agriculture.  This includes, but is not limited to, Heavy Equipment Operations, Electronics, Welding, and Diesel and Farm Machinery Repair.  Applicants, their parent(s), or guardian must hold an active membership in Missouri Farm Bureau.  Students pursuing a 4-year degree are not eligible for this scholarship. This $1,500 scholarship was created in honor of Nancy Smith, a previous LHS Journalism teacher who is beloved for her commitment to community and service. Interested applicants must be members of a service organization (i.e. StuCo, National Honor Society, Key Club, etc) and committed to attending a trade school, college, or university in the fall of 2025.

The Naumovich Scholarship Fund annually awards $2,500 renewable scholarships to graduating high school seniors or current college students. Applicants must be Missouri residents and plan to enroll full-time at an accredited, nonprofit, trade/technical, two-year college, or four-year college or university in the United States. Applications will be evaluated based on essays, transcripts, extracurricular and community involvement, and financial need.  Preference will be given to students of Polish descent (student, parent, or grandparent born in Poland) if all eligibility criteria are met. Regions will award a total of four (4) Quarterly Contest Prizes in each Quarterly Contest, consisting of two (2) Quarterly Contest Prizes for the Written Essay Entry Group and two (2) Quarterly Contest Prizes for the Video Essay Entry Group. Each Quarterly Contest Prize consists of a check in the amount of $8,000 made out to winner’s designated accredited college. 1. The candidate must be a full-time employee, a spouse of an employee, or a legal dependent of an employee of a STASL member firm.

The Association awards scholarships to students (including, but not limited to, current hotel employees, allied members, and tourism partners) interested in pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. The renewable Triple A Ranch Scholarship, which awards up to $5,000, is open to students from the greater St. Louis region. These grants are available annually to children and spouses of Veterans, whose deaths or injuries were a result of combat action or were attributed to an illness that was contracted while serving in combat action, or who became 80% disabled as a result of injuries or accidents sustained in combat action since Sept. 11, 2001.  The children and spouses of Missouri resident combat veterans deployed for active duty service on or after September 11, 2001 may also be eligible if the veteran received a DD214 indicating a combat pay tax exclusion exemption, or pay for hazardous duty, imminent danger, or hostile fire.  The veteran must have been a Missouri resident when first entering the military service or at the time of death or injury.  There is no application deadline for initial applicants but since the total number of students that may receive a grant in any year is limited by statute to 25, applying early is encouraged. Wartime Veteran's Survivors Grant Program

Applicants must be recommended by a school official, be a male high school senior attending a high school in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and be planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university (excluding Washington University in St. Louis and St. Louis University where separate William Pablo Feraldo Memorial Foundation Scholarship Programs are administered.) This includes high schools in St. Louis County.  Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award. If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,000 to $5,000.  Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.  Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study. The Notre Dame Club of St. Louis is offering several four-year scholarships to the University of Notre Dam to St. Louis area seniors. In the past few years, almost every student who was admitted to Notre Dame and who had demonstrated financial need, as determined by the University, and who applied for one of the scholarships was awarded aid by the Club. The Club will grant these scholarships based upon the student's academic and extracurricular record and financial need.

Southeast Missouri State University and the Missouri National Guard worked together to develop a unique dynamic program that prepares young adults for leadership positions in the Missouri National Guard as well as preparation for management and leadership positions in the civilian workforce.  The program offers students a way to serve in the National Guard as future officers while going to college that will provide them with the opportunity to earn their degree and to become commissioned officers in the Missouri National Guard. In November of 2006, the University of Missouri announced the MOST Scholarship Program. 80 scholarships of $500 per year will be awarded annually – for qualifying students of families who have invested for college through Missouri’s 529 Savings Plan (MOST) and who attend one of the University of Missouri four campuses Columbia, UMKC, Missouri S&T, or UMSL).To be eligible, the student’s family would need to have participated in the MOST program on behalf of the student for a minimum of 5 years prior to the April 1 deadline for applications for scholarships for the current academic year. The American Association of State Troopers Foundation, Inc. accepts scholarship applications from the dependents of trooper members for assistance with their post-secondary education expenses. Dependents are defined as a child by natural birth, a child legally adopted, a stepchild, or a child raised as a member's own (claimed as a dependent on income tax).

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. In order to do this, they are offering an annual $500 scholarship to a deserving student. All student-athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they participate in. Their participation may be in any capacity, whether as a player, coach, or official. Fifteen scholarships are awarded per annum. These are four-year tuition scholarships (actual dollar amount varies based upon school selection) with freedom in choice of school and area of study. The Schwallie Family Scholarship supports students attending two- or four-year undergraduate colleges. The majority of Schwallie applicants are students attending four-year degree programs. Schwallie applicants attending two-year degree programs are often students who intend to transfer to a four-year program in the future.

The Lisa Higgins Hussman Scholarship supports students attending two-year universities, life skills or postsecondary programs, or vocational, technical, or trade schools. Hussman applicants typically have greater daily support needs and plan to attend programs that assist in skill building, job readiness, and other transition-related skills.

The Synchrony Scholarship for Autistic Students of Color supports students attending any kind of postsecondary institution: four-year undergraduate colleges; two-year undergraduate colleges; life skills or postsecondary programs; or vocational, technical, or trade schools. This Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) scholarship includes money for almost all areas of school expenses including tuition, books, fees and uniforms, along with extra costs associated with being a full-time student. To apply, students must be a high school senior or graduate between the ages of 17-23, a U.S. Citizen, and have an ACT of 22, SAT of 1000 OR an ASVAB score of 74. Students must also achieve a 175 on the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test. Upon graduation, students who receive and accept the NROTC scholarship will be commissioned as second lieutenant in the USMC. Additionally, they will be required to fulfill an eight-year obligation to the USMCR (four years will be active duty). To learn more about the NROTC program, contact your local recruiter.
